Constellation Me! brings together artists with intellectual disabilities for a rich, hands-on experience alongside retirees from Ballyphehane and Togher Crafts Initiative (BTACI) for a multi-generational workshop. Held at Blackrock Castle Observatory, participants will design and craft a constellation that represents their own story, values, or personal journey. Using simple materials and guided prompts, each person will craft a star map of themselves to explore and represent identity, connection, and their place in the universe.
This event is not open to the public but work produced in this workshop will be exhibited as part of SpaceFest 2025.
SUISHA INCLUSIVE ARTS is the Arts and Creative Arts Therapies Department of Horizons, a non-profit organisation that aims to enhance and support the lives of people with an intellectual disability and/or autism. Members of the Horizons community have been taking part in organised workshops at Greywood Arts since 2022.
ENABLE IRELAND MIDLETON provide services to over 13,000 children and adults with a range of disabilities including physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities and autism.
BTACI is a group of over 300 community artists who have been working together voluntarily in the community for more than 25 years. The group are winners of the prestigious Outstanding Volunteers’ Award at the National Volunteer Awards 2017.
FRANCES MCCARTHY is the Head of Education and Outreach at MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory. She holds a BA in Physics and Astronomy and a BEd in Mathematics and Science. She is a member of International Astronomical Union and the IAU’s Office of Astronomical Education Chair for Ireland
