A creative audio workshop as Gaeilge (in Irish) that draws inspiration from the history of cassette tape use aboard space missions, where astronauts recorded observations aurally. Influenced by Ireland’s recent milestones including the selection of Dr. Norah Patten as the first Irish astronaut and the launch of EIRSAT 1, Ireland’s first satellite, the workshop blends science, storytelling, and sound. Participants will use podcast and audio recording techniques to craft time-traveling voice messages as imagined transmissions from deep space to home using the Irish language.
Muireann Nic Cába is a bilingual visual artist with an MA in Interactive Media from the University of Limerick and a BA in Fine Art, Sculpture & Combined Media from Limerick School of Art & Design. Her artistic process is rooted in both her interests in innovative technology and the crossover with more traditional mediums.
