SAT 16 + SUN 17 NOV The National Space Centre (NSC) in partnership with Greywood Arts and with support from Taighde Éireann – Research Ireland will host a thematic exhibition as part of SpaceFest for Science Week 2024.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the National Space Centre on this rare occasion when it is open to the public.
Greywood Arts will curate an exhibition of artwork depicting the relationships between humans and space and focused on the topic of Space Debris, created in the SpaceFest 2024 workshops and residencies:
- COSMIC DEBRIS: An immersive multimedia journey that challenges the audience to rethink our place in the cosmos and the impact we leave behind. Artists-in-residence Nicholas Carn, Kerry Guinan and artist/engineer Luisa Charles present kinetic sculptures and moving images in response to the issue of space debris, situated in the round room, under the National Space Centre’s iconic 32-metre Big Dish.
- STELLAR PERSPECTIVES: An exciting collection of night sky and astrophotography exploring views of the night skies from locations around Ireland captured by a diverse group of photographers.
- BIG LISTENING: Sound, sculptures and listening devices created by Greywood’s space themed STEAM programme in East Cork schools will be displayed as part of the exhibition – learn about the scientific basis and art process behind their creations.
- SILENT DISCO(VERY): Teenagers from the Greywood Arts Youth Club will share spectrograms inspired by the Voyager I & II Golden Records.
- GALAXY GAZERS: Galaxies created in the Citizen Science workshop on SUNDAY 10TH will be on display.
- CAMPUS TOURS: Take a guided tour of the National Space Centre campus, including the iconic 32-metere dish, weather permitting
Kerry Guinan (IE)

An Engineer and Science Communicator, Charles works at the intersection of art, science, and technology, pushing the boundaries of media-agnostic design engineering.
